Ana Catarina Pimentel Rodrigues

Ana Catarina Pimentel Rodrigues was born on July 7, 1998 in Almada, Portugal. She started her musical studies at the age of 6 at the Artistic School of Music at the National Conservatory of Lisbon with professors Maria José Falcão and Luís André Ferreira.

As a complement to the study of music, she was part of the Children and Youth choir at the University of Lisbon, where she had the opportunity to participate in several tours and choir contests in Switzerland, Belgium and the Netherlands. Additionally, she practiced classical and contemporary dance. Since 2013 she has been part of a young theater group and since 2015 a band that won the National Band Contest in 2015.

In her cello career she participated in masterclasses with several cellists such as Bruno Borralinho, Xavier Gagnepain, Gabriel Schwabe, Carlos Leal Cardin, Michel Strauss, Harriet Krigh, and obtained classes with Luís Sá Pessoa, Catherine Strynckx, Levon Mouradian, Filipe Quaresma and Jed Barahal. In 2015 and 2017 she played at the Young Portuguese Orchestra, with which she had the privilege to play at the Young Euro Classic at the Berliner Konzerthaus.

Ana Catarina won several prizes in chamber music contests, such as “Concurso Vila Verde” and “Jovem.com”.

Since 2017 she has been studying at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln Standort Wuppertal with Professor Susanne Müller-Hornbach.
